Words of Wisdom on MentoringMentoring is a brain to pick, an ear to listen, and a push in the right
direction. Mentoring is sharing knowledge, skill and experience in a befriending
way. A lot of people have gone further than they thought they could because
someone else thought they could. Even while men teach, they learn. Better than a thousand days of diligent study is one day with a great
teacher. In everyone's life Few things in the world are more powerful than a positive push. A smile.
A word of optimism and hope. A "you can do it" when things are
tough. To the world, you may just be somebody. But to somebody, you may just
might be the world. You cannot do a kindness too soon, for you never know how soon it will
be too late. You cannot teach a man anything; you can only help him find it within
himself. People seldom improve when they have no other model but themselves to
copy. We must open the doors of opportunity. But we must also equip our people
to walk through those doors. The ultimate leader is not afraid to develop people to the point they
surpass him or her in knowledge and ability. You get the best effort from others not by lighting a fire beneath them,
but by building a fire within. Do not wait for leaders; do it alone, person to person. Do all the good you can Our research tells us that the single most important determinant of individual
performance is a person's relationship with his or her immediate manager.
Without a robust relationship with a manager who sets clear expectations,
knows you, trusts you and invests in you, you are less likely to stay
and perform. Unless we think of others and do something for them, we miss one of the
        greatest sources of happiness.
